Spellings

The spellings for this week's test are:

to   too   two   unlucky   unkind  unwell   unhelpful   unfair

Do send me your score.  Your spellings next week are the days of the week. I know some of you have had them before but I think we need to revisit them as they are tricky!

Diaries

Please can your child write their diary entry without any support today and then can you send it to me as I would like to know how they are progressing with their independent writing. Many thanks.

Read my diary entry below and look for:

words containing apostrophe's and write those on your whiteboard under one of these headings:

contractions - words that are shortened

possessive apostrophe - showing that something belongs to someone/ thing

Thursday 4rth June 2020

I didn’t go outside much on Thursday because it wasn’t very warm. I decided that I would do some baking as my kitchen’s cupboards are full of old tins that I haven’t used. I found some condensed milk and a packet of ginger nuts so I thought I’d make banofee pie which is Maya’s favourite. There wasn’t any cream or bananas in the house so I had to go to the Coop for them.

It was also my children’s grandad’s birthday so we phoned him up to wish him happy birthday. We were disappointed that we couldn’t go and see him but he lives a long way away.

Later we played a game called Bananagrams. It's my favourite word game. I thought I had won but Bananagram's rules say you have to spell every word right and I had spelt one wrong! I was greatly disappointed.

Now include some words containing apostrophes in your diary entry but don't forget you can include some of these too:

  • some adjectives
  • commas in a list
  • interesting sentences starters
  • words that join sentences
  • prefixes and suffixes
  • an exclamation sentence
