Equivalent Value
Reacp the coins 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p. Feel free to start by playing one of the games from Monday's lesson.
Give 1 teddy two pennies and give another teddy a 2p coin. "Which teddy has more money?" Discuss with your child that both teddies have the same amount as two pennies are the same value as a 2p coin. Repeat for the 5p coin and 10p coin. You could also mix it up by giving one teddy more/less money than the other so the anoswer isn't always 'they have the same'.
If you feel like your child is understanding this and needs and extra challenge, give one teddy two 2p coins and one 1p coin, give the other child a 5p coin. Can your child still work out that this is the same? They can use a numberline to help them add the coins together. Repeat for other combinations if your child is managing it.
