The Hills Are Alive

The children worked with Cumbrian sound artist, Dan Fox, to record a piece of music made entirely from natural sounds collected on a 'sound walk'. Examples included the flowing of the river, birdsong and the rush of the wind through the trees. One of the children began singing in the church and this formed the centrepiece of the composition. Another child improvised a drum beat on a road sign. Thanks to Westmorland Dales for funding the project.

Christmas hitlist

"Christmas hit-list"

Class 2 were asked to each write down four short snap-shots of what Christmas means to them.  We added a handful of poignant reflections about others in need as a counter-balance.

After about 50 takes (honestly!) we had the vocal done.  All the children played the crescendo on recorders at the end.
