  • Spanish Day

    Fri 22 Nov 2019
The whole school have celebrated Spanish culture today with Sylvia, a teacher from Spain, that has been working in school with us for the past two weeks. We have learnt Spanish flamenco dancing and made castanets. We found out about the artist Picasso and made our own pictures in his style. Cooking a variety of Spanish tapas was fun and we shared them at a special assembly with parents at the end of the day. Thank you to governors Debbie, Linda and John and volunteer Barbara for helping to make the day such a success.
  • Pudsey Bear visits for Children in Need

    Wed 13 Nov 2019
We had a very special visitor in school today... many thanks to Belinda at Radio Cumbria for bringing Pudsey Bear along to meet the children. He seemed to love dancing to our ukuleles and everyone enjoyed having their pictures taken with him.   We've been doing our usual fundraising for the charity and extend our thanks to everyone for supporting our bid to cover Pudsey's giant picture entirely with coins.  Thanks also to Freda as ever for baking the Pudsey biscuits.
  • Autumn Forest School Day

    Fri 08 Nov 2019

We have had a wonderful forest school today. Class 2 made pews for our willow church with Mr Corrie, learning to use a variety of woodworking tools safely and competently. They also used branding tools to write the school name on them.

All the children have been learning how to start a fire, some without matches! We have made hot drinks and  cooked delicous spicy apples.. A big thank you to Tara Hollis for helping out with fire activities.

The children have also worked together to clear our vegetable beds for the winter, spread amazing leaf mulch we made over the last year and collect leaves to make more for next year.

Class 1 made a dragon in the style of Andy Goldsworthy using autumn leaves. With natural found materials they found on the school grounds, they also created their own pictures.

We ended the day with a very special assembly in our willow church complete with new handmade pews!
