BIG MATHS - 10 minutes maximum

FACT FAMILIES:  Give your child an addition sentence for example 4 + 6 = 10

Ask them to write out a fact family (2 addition and 2 subtractions using the SAME 3 NUMBERS)

• 4 + 6 = 10
• 6 + 4 = 10
• 10 - 4 = 6
• 10 - 6 = 4

Repeat for other calculations.  Try starting with a subtraction sentence can they still write a fact family from it?

SUBTRACTION 12:  Practice subtracting and 1-digit number from a number to 20 by counting backwards.  For example;

• 18 - 7 = 
• 13 - 5 = 
• 12 - 8 = 

The children can draw a chunk of numberline on their boards to help them.
