Please repeat the same Big Maths as yesterday (Wednesday)
Measuring Mass
The children will not be able to complete the activities in the pupil book as they require a balance scale which I don't think you will have at home. If you do have a balance scale please feel free to complete the pupil books.
You will need:
Different objects weighing different amounts making sure that some weight more and less than 1kg.
Something that weighs exactly 1kg (Bag of flour?)
Let your child hold something that is relatively light, explain that we measure light things in grams, can you think of some things that we would measure in grams?
Let your child hold 1kg and explain that there are 1000g in 1kg. We tend to measure heavier things in kg, can you think of anything that we would measure in kg?
Ask your child to sort all the items in front of them into things that weight less than 1kg, things that weigh more than 1kg and things that are about the same as 1kg.
