Music
Our aim is that pupils experience a balance of singing, playing, creating and listening to music. Music enables the children to express themselves creatively through sound and gives an opportunity to perform in groups.
Opportunities are given during weekly lessons in both classes. Class 1 follows the Charanga Musical School scheme of music. Class 2 follows a bespoke in-house curriculum (see below) which gives opportunities to sing; create with online apps such as Ableton Loops & Incredibox; learn ukulele, glockenspiel & drums and listen & appraise a wide range of classical, popular & culturally significant music.
Every child in KS2 receives weekly peripatetic tuition in school, learning to play recorders while following musical notation. Performances to parents are given at the end of each term. Children can also receive after-school tuition to learn keyboard, guitar or flute.
